Dragonlance is a richly-detailed
fantasy world of warriors, magic and dragons, designed by TSR Inc and
now owned by Wizards of the Coast Inc. The world was originally created
as a supplement for the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons® role-playing game,
but soon blossomed into a fully-blown campaign setting in it's own right

Interview with George Strayton
The
Official Dragonlance Movie Site has an interview with George
Strayton, screenwriter for the new animated Dragonlance movie. George
doesn't mention Lucy but he does mention Xena and Hercules. There are
spoilers in this interview for the movie.
8 December 2006
The following is part of an interview Lucy did with
iF Magazine
iF: I saw that you are doing a voice
for a DRAGONLANCE cartoon?
LAWLESS:
Yeah I did a voice for that, and I just did Wonder Woman for a Warner
Bros. cartoon thing the other day. It was really fun, and I love voice
things because it’s not a filed I’ve working in very much.
iF: But you did the XENA
cartoon?
LAWLESS:
Yes, I did that and I wasn’t very confident. Then I did SIMPSONS
and I still wasn’t very confident. When I did SIMPSONS again or
CELEBRITY DEATH MATCH I was getting a little better. DRAGONLANCE I nailed that, and then this Wonder Woman role I did
great on that one. I felt so much better. I like finding new challenges.
It’s for a new JUSTICE LEAGUE that’s really kind of hip and sexy
it’s really retro drawings. It was for a DVD and it’s very adult. It was
very cool. I loved it!

Scifi.com - Lawless Channels Xena In Dragons
Lucy Lawless (SCI FI Channel's Battlestar Galactica) told SCI FI Wire
that she lapsed into her old voice from her Xena: Warrior Princess days
while recording dialogue for the upcoming animated movie Dragonlance:
Dragons of Autumn Twilight. Based on the popular Dragonlance

There's an interview with George Strayton about the
movie (George wrote the screenplay) on the Dragonlance Nexus
site and there's a Lucy mention:
Dragonhelm: You previously worked with Lucy Lawless on
Xena: Warrior Princess. What was it like working with her
again on the Dragonlance movie?
GS: She's a gifted actress, plus she's just plain fun to
work with and be around. We had a great time recording her
part.
Dragonhelm: One review I read of Xena was that it is "smart
TV pretending that it's dumb". Do you think this is a fair
characterization?
GS: I think it's close. At least, that's what we strove for.
Unfortunately, there are a few episodes that are dumb TV not
even trying to pretend to be smart.

DragonHearth SPECIAL EDITION for Thursday, July 13, 2006

SPECIAL BOOK TOUR EDITION announcing Keifer Sutherland as the voice of
Raistlin in the upcoming Dragonlance animated film.
To paraphrase, Tracy mentions that he and Margaret Weis were under a non
disclosure agreement about the Dragonlance movie but that 'Lucy Lawless
- Xena' mentioning it on her website made them feel able to say
something at last. They also say that the film is currently 'in
production' and that 'all of the voice work has been done'. And they
announce their cast and are clearly thrilled with the names they have
got. (Though apparently Kiefer Sutherland's agent 'tried to talk him out
of it'. <g>) The film will be out in a year - that's the 'target date'.

SciFi Wire - 30 June 2006
Cindi Rice, co-executive producer of the upcoming animated
fantasy movie
Dragons of Autumn Twilight, told SCI FI Wire that the film will
remain true to the book by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, the
first in their Dragonlance Chronicles series. "I'm extremely
proud of the creative team I brought together," Rice said in an
interview. "George Strayton has written a very cool script while
staying true to Margaret's and Tracy's vision. Will Meugniot is
simply an animation genius, and he's helping us create a very
innovative and complex film. It is a joy to work with both of them."
Helmed by Meugniot (the animated X-Men TV series) and written
by Strayton (Cleopatra 2525, Xena: Warrior Princess), the
movie will feature the voices of Xena star Lucy Lawless and
Michael Rosenbaum (TV's Smallville)...click

The author of the Dragonlance novels, Margaret Weis, has posted to a
forum about the movie:
Dear Friends,
I really wanted to wait until we could make the WAHOO Big Announcement
on the dragonlance movie site (which is coming any day now, so keep
watch!). But since Lucy Lawless gave us away, I'll let you know what's
going on. Paramount Studios is making Dragons of Autumn Twilight as a
full-length, adult, animated movie. I'll let the movie site provide you
with details on the director, screen play writer, animation house, and
all that.
Suffice it to say, Tracy and I have been working with the production
team for over a year now. They've been wonderful to work with! They've
allowed us to have script approval and asked for our suggestions.
They've shown us all the art work and allowed us approval on that (as
well as the WoTC art director in charge of Dragonlance). We've been
working with the Whitestone Council people on this as well. (Thanks,
guys!)
From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing! The art is great.
Hopefully some of it will be up on the movie site. And Tracy and I will
be talking more about the movie and maybe bringing along some art pieces
on our book tour.
Tracy and I are both very excited about this!
Margaret

News that is filtering through is that Lucy jumped the gun and
announced her involvement with the movie ahead of time. The news wasn't
supposed to be announced so soon. Oops. At least it made the Dragonlance
fans happy.
In other news about the movie, it be based on the first
novel
Dragons of Autumn Twilight which was written by Margaret Weis
and Tracy Hickman.
Lifelong
friends, they went their separate ways. Now they are together again,
though each holds secrets from the others in his heart. They speak of a
world shadowed with rumors of war. They speak of tales of strange
monsters, creatures of myth, creatures of legend. They do not speak of
their secrets. Not then. Not until a chance encounter with a beautiful,
sorrowful woman, who bears a magical crystal staff, draws the companions
deeper into the shadows, forever changing their lives and shaping the
fate of the world. No one expects them to be heroes. Least of all, them.

Lucy in new Animated Movie: Dragonlance
Lucy
has announced that she will be in a new Paramount animated feature. The
movie is based on the Dragonlance books. Lucy will voice a Native
American character called Goldmoon that will sound like Xena.

for Paramount, called Dragonlance. Obviously it's a fantasy story, with
gods and monsters -- (no lesbian subtext)...
I played a character called "Goldmoon," a Native American..."
