The following review of Double Dare is by Sharon:
The movie was awesome! Zoe and Jeannie are a delight to watch. So easy and natural in front of the camera. I could easily have spent another two hours watching their lives unfold. I had no knowledge of the Epper dynasty of stuntpeople for. Steven Spielberg uses Jeannie regularly and participated in the movie. Amanda filmed Zoe during "Last Of The Centaurs" and "Friend In Need" as well as on the set of Kill Bill in China which gave her an opportunity to interview Quentin Tarantino. It's a nail-biter to watch Zoe audition for the part in front of Martial Arts Master Yuen Wo-Ping. I hope there will be an opportunity for all of you to check out this movie at some point. Lucy, Rob, Renee and Steve were there in support of Zoe.

https://www.fromtheheartproductions.com/grantpast.html- Zap2it.com has the following blurb about the premiere of the Double Dare Movie
OD (Zap2it.com) -- Quentin Tarantino, Darryl Hannah, Lucy Lawless and other stars came out for a documentary about Hollywood stunt women at the AFI Film Festival Friday night (Nov. 14).
"Double Dare," a film by Amanda Micheli, premiered during the closing weekend of the AFI festival, held at the Arclight and Cineramadome in Hollywood. The movie is an action-packed story about stuntwomen Jeannie Epper and Zoe Bell. Epper refuses to retire at the age of 62 and was the double for Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman in the '70s, while Bell landed the coveted job of doubling for Lucy Lawless as "Xena: Warrior Princess" at the age of 18 years, and recently starred as Uma Thurman's double in the Tarantino film "Kill Bill 1."
Along with the stuntwomen themselves, other stars attending included Michelle Rodriguez and Renee O'Connor.

Ratings for last week's show were dismal
- Last week: 2.9 viewers; 1.9 HH Rating; 3 share; 112 (out of 119 prime time). Those numbers closed the doors. Decision had been made the week before by WB.
TeeVee.com has an article on why Tarzan failed. An excerpt below is Lucy relevant:
"Tarzan": Burroughs in the Boroughs - 7 November 2003
For now, the show's situation has stabilized with the introduction of Kathleen Clayton (Lucy Lawless), John's aunt and estranged sister of Uncle Richard. Kathleen is supposedly a wealthy newspaper publisher, although we've seen little evidence of that on camera: for now, her function is to wear pastels, provide John a place to stay (a conveniently jungle-like over-grown hothouse at the top of her palatial family home), occupy her living room set in a scene or two an episode, and put on a tearful, pensive face as she lets John choose his own path rather than trying to mold him. A far cry from the Xena versus Tarzan showdown some fans may have wanted! It's likely Kathleen will play a larger role in upcoming episodes (it'd be a shame if she didn't) but Kathleen's days are numbered: Lucy Lawless has a separate development deal with Warner Brothers, so expect Kathleen to be gone by the Tarzan season finale: interesting story developments could stem from her (apparent?) death at the hands of any of the other major characters. I vote for Jane. [And for fanfreaks out there: I gave up on The X-Files long before Lawless did a guest-starring role, so I don't know if she and Mitch Pileggi shared the screen before Tarzan. But I do know Lawless studied acting in Vancouver B.C. at the William Davis Center for Actors. Yes, that William B. Davis. So there. Nyah.]

I've been browsing through papers I rescued from the Pacific Renaissance offices in New Zealand when they were closing down. There were production drawings, costume designs and storyboards. I found it fascinating how different the character of Xena was drawn in the storyboards. Especially the one from "Fallen Angel" where Xena became a demon and the artist styled her that way even in scenes where she wasn't a demon yet. Take a look

There will be a HUGE Xena costume Auction in Auckland on Saturday, 29th November at 10 am. They will be selling most of their 600 Xena costumes. Anyone who is interested in costumes from the show - or just in Medieval costume or film/TV costumes should try and be there - or get someone in Auckland to go
and bid for you. The Auctioneer believes that most of the costumes will sell very cheaply - most for less then $50 New Zealand Dollars (which is less than $35 U.S Dollars). This will be the last (and cheapest) way to get hold of fantastic costumes. The auction includes many lead pieces (Gabrielle, Iolaus, Aphrodite,etc, etc, etc). It also includes over 60 samurai costumes, 12 complete Bacchae costumes, 5 suits of armour, 20 swords, chainmaille, etc. For more info contact arms_dealer@xtra.co.nz

More on the Gilda's Club Variety Show...
- The following is from The following is from the National Post (Canada)
11 November 2003
Why did Lucy Lawless, a.k.a. Xena the Warrior Princess, grab me by the cheeks and tell me to "shut up" this week?...OK, Lucy Lawless: The Princess Warrior, in town shooting the WB series Tarzan, was one of the surprise guests at the rockin' Gilda's Club variety show at the Princess of Wales last Monday. It also starred Eric McCormack, Andrea Martin, Colin Mochrie and a Noah's Ark of other entertainers. Trouble is that Lawless got there really late and missed rehearsals. Trouble also is that when she arrived onstage, looking considerably less biceped and more soccer-mommed than she did as Xena, she started to sing a cover from the Barenaked Ladies but almost immediately forgot the words. Again and again. She stuck it out until the end, but eventually howled into the microphone, "The worst thing is I have my cellphone on, so the Barenaked Ladies could hear me. I'm so embarrassed!" Later on, at the reception, I confronted the screwy singer. "So, did you get any feedback from the Barenaked Ladies?" I asked, sorta-snarky. "Shut up!" she said. Then, grabbing both my cheeks, she shouted, "Shut up, you little man!" Under the circumstances, I have to tell you, it was the friendliest brush-off I've ever gotten.
Lawless joined McCormack and others for a very late-night rendezvous at Lobby on Bloor Street later on. Last seen, Xena was dancing up a storm with a bunch of drag queens who'd performed a scene from Hair Spray at the Gilda's Club revue.

Gilda's Club, is a free service that provides men, women, children living with cancer and their families and friends a place to join with others to build social and emotional support as a supplement to their treatment of choice. It's not heavy lifting. It's Lucy (Xena) Lawless, in town shooting Tarzan, immortalizing her breasts in plaster to be auctioned off online to raise money for Gilda's Club. Lawless displayed a great set of pipes when she sang a Barenaked Ladies tune at the fundraiser Monday night (3 November 2003)

She's baaack! For those of you suffering from "Xena" withdrawal -- and we know you're out there -- help is here. In addition to catching Lucy Lawless every week on the new WB series "Tarzan," you can see her in the second season of cult fave "Xena: Warrior Princess" -- now out on DVD. Die-hard fans may recall that things really heated up between Xena and her trusted companion Gabrielle in season two. Now viewers can enjoy (or enjoy again) the over-the-top dyke innuendo in "A Comedy of Eros" or the not-so-subtle subtext of the two gals bathing together in the classic episode, "A Day in the Life." It's a 20-hour lesbian dream come true. Lucy recently talked to PlanetOut about her lesbian crush on a certain young movie starlet, her love of Cosmos and appearing nude on-screen.

Lucy Images
New pic from the New Mexico photoshoot/inteview Sharon did with Lucy. Photos by Wendy Sparks. Notes from Sharon about the pic:
Lucy runs upstairs to get her makeup kit and sets to work trying to make me presentable. Some powder, blush, a bit of eye makeup. Then she stands back and gazes over her work with a puzzled expression. "Run your fingers through your hair. It looks too combed," she says. I follow her directions and we look at each other for a moment. "I'm not a hair and makeup person," she sighs. We both giggle. https://www.creationent.com/outback/fanclubs/r323.jpgTarzan News
The following is from Sharon
The show has been undergoing some changes. Shaun Cassidy, who had been a co-executive producer on another Warner Brothers Television show called Cold Case, was brought in as co-executive producer on Tarzan. It seems like WBT decided he was needed more on Tarzan than Cold Case which is doing quite nicely in the ratings. Then production was shut down the week of October 20 to give the writers a chance to retool upcoming scripts.4 November
As many of you know I started Ausxip because I wanted a place for my art. The site kinda grew from what I originally had in mind <g> but I've continued to create my artwork based on Xena and of course Lucy and Renee. I've redesigned my artwork section and it's time for the great unveiling.
Added a revised and revamped MaryD's Artwork that includes all the episode montages, Xena, Gabrielle, Xena & Gabrielle, Conqueror, Lucy, Renee and now Tarzan art. In total there are 392 pieces of art from 1996 to 2003.

I received the following note that would be of interest to Lucy, Kevin, Danielle et al fans..
Hello Everyone,
I'm posting to let people know about a petition I've put online for the book
"Stage: A decade of plays from the Auckland Theatre Company." The ATC had
planned to release a photo-retrospective of its first 50 productions,
featuring photographs by leading photographer John McDermott, with narration
by former artistic director Simon Prast. Many of New Zealand's finest actors
have been a part of the theatre company over the years: Kevin Smith;
Danielle Cormack; Lucy Lawless; Joel Tobeck; Craig Parker; Michael Hurst;
Jennifer Ward-Lealand; Elizabeth Hawthorne; Stuart Devenie; Erik Thomson;
Marton Csokas; Liddy Holloway; Jeffrey Thomas; Ilona Rodgers; Latham Gaines;
Paul Gittins; Peter Elliott; Roy Billing; Jonathan Hardy; Ian Watkin;
Michael Lawrence; and others. However, it was recently decided by ATC's
board of directors that there would not be enough interest in the book to
justify publication costs, so they cancelled it.
I believe that there is a great deal of worldwide interest in this book, so
I decided to put together an online petition, so that fans of these
wonderful actors could let the ATC board know how they feel. Oddly, the ATC
is still advertising the book on their website, so you can get (a little)
more information here: https://www.atc.co.nz/Events/2003/stage.htm. In
addition to what would no doubt be a wonderful collection of photographs of
some of our favorite actors, NZ$10 of the retail price of the book would be
donated to the Kevin Smith Trust Fund.
If you would like to see this book be published, please sign the petition!
https://kiwiartists.sytes.net/petition.cfm
Thanks very much.
My best wishes,
Julie

We're in Chloride, an old ghost town, where the film crew is beginning to shoot the segment on Lozen. The woman is Kristi, the producer, the man to the right of her is Noel, the director. The older gentleman, Don Edmund, runs the ghost town. He's kinda the head ghost! Lucy loved listening to his stories about the history of the town. She also ran around with her own camera taking pictures of everyone and having everyone take pictures of her among the ruins. <g> https://www.creationent.com/outback/fanclubs/r516.jpg- Creation has also six photos from the photoshoot from the New Mexico interview Sharon has done with Lucy for sale. ...ALL OF THESE DEVELOPMENTS seem to demonstrate that being gay is the new cool thing in TV-land. And with a little sprinkling of fairy dust, what would happen if many more shows embraced positive gay themes.
...On “Tarzan,” Jane would leave the title character for the jungle man’s aunt (the lovely Lucy Lawless) and the heartbroken Tarzan (ex-underwear model Travis Fimmell) would go skulking off alone.
