Angel of Death Press Release

15 January 2009

STUDIO CITY, Calif., Jan. 15 CA-Crackle.com
Special Programming Event First of 2009

STUDIO CITY, Calif., Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The highly anticipated action-packed online series "Angel of Death," starring Zoe Bell (Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof") and Lucy Lawless ("Xena: Warrior Princess," "Battlestar Galactica") is set to premiere as a special programming event on Monday, March 2, 2009 on Crackle.com, Sony Pictures Entertainment's online video network. The announcement was made today by Eric Berger, senior vice president, digital networks for Sony Pictures Television, at Crackle's Television Critic's Association (TCA) luncheon.

Crackle.com will air the first of 10 episodes of "Angel of Death" starting March 2nd.  A new 8-10 minute long episode will be available each weekday through March 13th.  Together with new footage, the series will be released in its entirety on DVD as a full length feature, after its online broadcast.

"We're thrilled that 'Angel of Death' will kick-off our special event programming in 2009," said Eric Berger.  "Ed Brubaker is a master storyteller whose award-winning comic book experience is a natural fit. We're certain that audiences will be riveted by Zoe Bell, Lucy Lawless, Doug Jones and the rest of the cast as they bring Ed's work to life."

"Angel of Death," is an action packed thriller about a remorseless assassin, Eve (Zoe Bell), employed by a ruthless crime family. After suffering a severe head trauma while on the job, she begins to hallucinate and becomes haunted by her victims. As a result of her injury, Eve is driven to seek revenge on those who ordered the hits in the first place -- her mob employers.

In addition to Bell and Lawless, the cast includes Doug Jones ("Pan's Labyrinth," "4: Rise of the Silver Surfer") as Dr. Rankin; Vail Bloom ("The Young and the Restless") as Regina Downes; Ted Raimi ("Xena: Warrior Princess") as Jed Norton; Brian Poth ("CSI: Miami") as Graham; Justin Huen ("Weeds") as Franklin; and Jake Abel ("Cold Case") as Cameron Downes.

ANGEL OF DEATH reunites Lucy Lawless, Ted Raimi, and Zoe Bell - who all worked together on "Xena: Warrior Princess."  Bell was Lawless's stunt-double on the long-running series.

While developing the story about a cold-blooded killer growing a conscience, Brubaker's original idea for the series was a hitman afflicted with brain cancer, but then remembered watching a scene in an old PBS documentary series where a patient walked into the ER with a hunting knife stabbed right through his skull, and drew inspiration from that for Eve's head injury.  ANGEL OF DEATH is Brubaker's first online series.

"Angel of Death" was created and written by famed Eisner Award-winning comic-book mastermind Ed Brubaker ("Captain America," "Criminal," "Daredevil") and directed by Paul Etheredge ("Buried Alive," "Hellbent"). The series is a White Rock Lake Production being produced by John Norris ("Buried Alive"), and is being distributed by Sony Pictures Television.
