bedmaking battle for a good cause

Television's
Warrior Princess Xena - New Zealand actor Lucy Lawless - showed
off a new skill yesterday as she vied for the title of fastest
bedmaker.
Lawless was at Auckland's Starship hospital as of a contest set
up by Australian company Lorraine Lea Linen to spice up its
$115,000 donation to the hospital's Oncology Rebuild project.
The two minute race between Lawless and Lorraine Lea chief
executive Adrian Ryan to see who could make the neatest bed in
the quickest time resulted in a "dead heat" judges said, in the
interests of preserving Australia-New Zealand relations.
The donation comes as a result of the company's Party for Kids
with Cancer, which raises money for a different children's
project or hospital each year.
Starship Foundation chief executive Andrew Young said the
donation was a huge contribution to the hospital's cause.
"We're so grateful that even our Australian counterparts are
getting on board for this worthy project," he said.
Money will go towards rebuilding the hospital's cancer unit,
providing eight single inpatient rooms for pre-teen patients.
