Lucy Lawless To Stage Own
Rock Concert
New Zealand Press Association
9 January 2007
New Zealand actress Lucy Lawless, 38, says she is launching a
new career as a rock singer, with her debut in Los Angeles next
week.
The concert has already sold out The Roxy Theatre in Hollywood
on January 13 with an additional show added for the following
night, according to a fan website.
Lawless finished in a close second place on the recent Fox
television network series Celebrity Duets where she performed
with musical icons Smokey Robinson and Dionne Warwick.
"I've become a junkie for live performance. I can't get enough,"
she told a website.
Lawless began singing in New Zealand, and toured with Dave
Dobbyn in the summer of 2003.
She said on the lucylawlessfanclub.com website earlier this
month that her plans to hit the gym over six weeks to transform
from "frump to fabulous" were sabotaged by a Christmas trip to
New Zealand.
"Usually I go home a broken shell of a woman and this time was
no exception, only now I didn't have the will power to resist
all those great kiwi sweets, custard tarts, chocolate and
biscuits (cookies) that I have loved since I was a child," she
wrote.
"Naturally, the relaxation spread to my waist".
Lawless created a high profile on television with six years on
two hit series Hercules and Xena: Warrior Princess, and has gone
on to star in the science fiction series Battlestar Galactica.
