Lucy Lawless Message to Susanna Rustin From The Guardian

This is an update to the excellent Lucy interview by Susanna Rustin in the Guardian which was posted a few days ago.

In the comments section, Susanna has responded to the comments and included a note from Lucy to her which was sent after the interview was filed. The message is located about 6 from the bottom on Page 2 of the comments

Thanks for comments. Lucy Lawless sent me the following, which I didn't see until after I'd filed the interview, so I'll post it here.

"I forgot to mention the most important thing of all, the 'why must we save the Arctic'. When you spend so much time with people who understand the issues, you forget that most people may not be aware of the vital role the Arctic ice-cap plays in stabilising the world's weather patterns, and that our continued consumption of fossil fuels is effectively destroying this, the world's 'air conditioner'.

Now that climate change is causing a disastrous summer ice melt, Big Oil is moving in to dig up more of the stuff which caused the problem in the first place. Lunatic? You bet."
