Lucy has confirmed she will be at the 2010 Xena Convention in LA on 5 Feb (she will be appearing on Friday 5 Feb on her own and another segment with Renee).

This is the message that was sent out to Lucy's list by Sharon:

They've signed on and the announcement should be going out any moment now, so keep your eyes peeled on your inboxes. The webmaster is updating the convention website as we speak.

Lucy and Renee will do their duo spot on Friday and Lucy will do her solo spot that day. Renee will do her solo spot on Sunday as well as her photo ops and autographs.

Andrew has raised $26,296.21 which is just phenomenonal! His marathon partner Vicki has raised $19,604.93 and they are both set for the 1 NOvember 2009 NY Marathon.

This is my very public mid-life crisis. I figure if I'm going to attempt my first marathon in honour of Starship, it might as well be in the Big Apple to be witnessed by millions of encouraging onlookers.

I'm running with my mate Vikki Maclean and it's true we made a pact to do New York last year - and yes - after a glass of wine (or two). This my have fuelled our courage (and foolishness) but we've nonetheless stuck to our word.

We've also seen the light and have banished alcohol (well, almost) in favour of energy drinks, 5am daily wake ups to train (in the pitch black and cold) and ongoing strategising to ensure we reach the finish line. My coach Tim Morrison's unfailingly there with stop-watch and some evil course for me to complete each morning, when my body's just craving sleep and peace.

Luckily Lucy Lawless, our Starship Foundation ambassador and my good mate, is sometimes literally alongside us to keep the motivation going. She's also behind us as a very generous supporter for our run - thanks Lucy.

Spartacus, slated to air in January 2010, has generated the most buzz . It stars Xena: Warrior Princess and Battlestar Galactica actress Lucy Lawless and one of its executive producers is Spider-Man director Sam Raimi.

"Spartacus could be a franchise for us," Starz executive vice president and chief financial officer Glenn Curtis said at the investors meeting.

Curtis said screenings for the Spartacus series sold out at MIPCOM in Cannes, France, this month and that Starz sales executives took more than 200 meetings about the series at that television syndication bazaar.

Starz has already made plans for a home video release (on Starz's own Anchor Bay entertainment), a video game and a motion comic tied to the series.

"All of this is to extend the reach and the frequency of Spartacus, to make people aware," Curtis said.

As the first country to see the sun, it'll be up to New Zealand to kick off the global day in style. The Official Sign On Blog has an article about Lucy's trip to Wellington College. From the report it sure looks like Lucy has added the young men to her fan base (welcome boys!)

"Boys, may I introduce to you....Miss Lucy Lawless!"

It's possible that the assembly hall of nearly 1,000 young males had never had such an exciting visitor. The Warrior Princess herself had taken the stage at Wellington College. She had the youth of today; the leaders of tomorrow, in the palm of her hand....

She lectured them about shower length. "I mean, come on, you're clean after five minutes. Showers aren't for entertainment boys!" Silence, then giggles. Then it was difficult to get them all to focus again.

There's a couple there that I can go without ever seeing again but there are some gorgeous ones in particular #5 (Xena) and #6 (Gabrielle). #2 is a little disturbing and #4 a lot disturbing..hate that particular scene..despise it with a passion.

Thursday 15 October 2009 - Actress Lucy Lawless will be in Wellington today, talking to Wellington College students about climate change, and playing "head medic" at a climate emergency tent in Manners Mall.

Lawless is one of a range of high-profile New Zealanders who're ambassadors for Greenpeace's Sign On campaign (www.signon.org.nz), which is aimed at encouraging Prime Minister John Key to go to the UN climate talks in Copenhagen in December and commit to a 40% by 2020 emission reduction target.

Over 130,000 people have joined the campaign.

The tape has crossed the ditch (many many thanks to Jo for the tape) and it's now available for viewing on the AUSXIP YouTube Channel and Screencaptures.

Wellington College goes blue for Climate Change.

On Thursday the 15th of October Wellington College will play host to Lucy Lawless and the Greenpeace Sign On team to raise awareness about climate change. The day will consist of a series of assemblies and fun events which are designed to encourage students to think about the local and global issues surrounding climate change.

Two morning assemblies will start with students addressing their peers and end with Ms Lawless talking about her experiences as part of the Greenpeace Sign On team. Students will be encouraged to take action on climate change by signing on and will be shown how even simple changes in their personal habits can have positive impacts on the health of the planet. Students will also be taking home Sign On sheets so their friends and families can participate too.

  The World March For Peace and Non Violence site has posted a HQ photo of Lucy at the Auckland Peace Heritage Walk on 27 September 2009. The event was a rehearsal for the start of the World March For Peace and Non Violence which will begin on 2 October 2009 in New Zealand and circle the globe and end in the Andes in January.

Lucy marched under a Chinese-style dragon made from the sails of the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior -- sunk by French agents in Auckland in 1985 -- in the Auckland Peace Heritage Walk around central Auckland.

The site says:

"Lucy Lawless is the internationally renowned actor born in New Zealand. She is widely known for her role as Xena in the hit TV series "Xena: Warrior Princess". Since then she has starred in many films. Lucy is currently campaigning with Greenpeace for the Climate Change awareness Sign-On Petition."

The other Lucy mention is again from the Herald on Sunday 11 October 2009 - a small blurb about Danny Patrios from the D&M Salon at Ponsonby. He is interviewed about his hairdressing salon. He was asked if he has any famous clients and he lists Lucy.

Lucy was out and about today at helping kick off a nationwide fund-raising drive to help pay Prime Minister John Key's way to the UN climate talks in Copenhagen in December, with a "Darby Barbie" in Auckland.


 

The official Sign On Site has the latest with some gorgeous new Lucy photos!

"Some say I'm pretty handy on the barbie after two years working as a BBQ sales technician, so I thought I'd prove this in order to help get Mr. John Key to the ball," said Mr Darby, from outside the Warehouse store in Newmarket, where his sausage sizzle took place. Other Sign On ambassadors, including actress Keisha Castle-Hughes and Lucy Lawless, also took up tongs.

Lucy has posted a new blog about several things including The Lucy Lawless Feel The Love Day (she mentioned that we should lose the Lucy Lawless bit from it). Nahhhhh....

I wholeheartedly disagree with this on a mega scale but that's just my opinion - the whole thing was started because of Lucy's generous spirit and frankly I think it should continue to be called Lucy Lawless Feel The Love Day (Week). It's a special week for Lucy fans to show her how much she means to us.

• Reorganised the About Lucy Page which is now a directory to make it alot easier to find the ever expanding sections and subsites of AUSXIP Lucy Lawless

• Lucy Lawless Videos - that's now organised with the latest new updates to make it easier to find the latest videos. I will be using the AUSXIP YouTube Channel more rather than making videos available for download (saves on the bandwidth for the site)
• The Premieres and Events subsite is now two sections - the main Events Page (aka Out and About) and the Social Awareness and Charity Subsites. Lucy lends her name to a great many social awareness / charity events (ie Sign On, PAW Justice, Starship etc) and having the two sections makes it easier to find the charity event or other events.

(fashion rejects very descriptive prose (we should get a fashion gig next...how does one do that?) they were charcoal grey...and have no idea who the designer is...we have no clue who she was wearing although the t-shirt was a Greenpeace designer label) Lucy is sporting black boots...pants...and a white "Come On John" Sign On t-shirt and THE ORANGE wig from Spartacus....Good one Lucy! John Key is in the audience....

Lucy is being Lucy...just precious....(watch the video to come later, words cannot tell the whole story) - she's having a fun time!

The winner of the award was LADYHAWKE (single and album of the year...she should stay on stage...she's winning everything)!

About The Event

Starship Foundation Trustee Lucy Lawless spent time this week making beds with Lorraine Lea Linen, who donated $115 000 to the children's charity. The linen company had raised funds in August through the Party for Kids with Cancer® initiative, to help rebuild the Starship Hospital's cancer unit. Lucy Lawless took part in a bed making competition in Starship's Atrium, and accepted a giant check on behalf of the Starship Foundation.

Lucy Presenting An Award at NZ Music Awards According to the NZ Herald today (8 October 2009), Lucy will be at the NZ Music Awards and presenting an award. The last time Lucy was at the Awards was back on 30 April 2003 where she hosted the awards.

At this year's awards, Lucy's presenting awards 17 & 18 (single & album of the year), together with Jason Kerrison (who appeared at the Supernova)  
 
The red carpet is on TV fom 7:30pm - 8:30pm, show at 8:30pm - 10:30pm.

Other guest presenters tonight in the show hosted by Dai Henwood include Aussie rock trio The Living End, Lucy Lawless, Warriors Jerome Ropati, Jesse Royal, and Manu Vatuvei.

The action on the red carpet at Vector Arena starts from 6pm - but the first 200 fans to turn up at 4pm get access to the moshpit inside. On TV, C4 has live coverage from 4pm, covering arrivals from 6pm to 7pm, the broadcasting the show itself from 8.30pm. There are free buses from Victoria St (opposite SkyCity) to the arena from 4 to 6pm.

Auckland Actors Lucy CV. Lucy's acting CV has been updated (although it only goes up to 2007 with Football Wives). The thing that is most interesting is the new pic. It seems to be part of the collection from the photos that were sold through her fan club but her hair appears lighter so it might be a new photoshoot (around 2007) or it just looks that way. I haven't seen it before.

Another piece is that they haven't fixed the movie title for Eurotrip. It's still called The Ugly Americans. Click on the image for the larger scan.

In May 2004 Lucy appeared on New Zealand Idol as a guest judge. During that time, NZ Jester sent me the video tape and there were clips made and screencaptures created but they wern't linked (!) so I've created a new page for Lucy's guest judge role.

A little bit of Trivia: Lucy was pregnant with Julius when this was being filmed. During the filming of Endgame or Ides (can't remember which but I think it was Endgame), a 60 minutes crew (from Australia - which airred April 1999) interviewed Lucy and she cryptically alluded to the pregnancy but didn't reveal it...it was a few days later after this interviewed airred that the news of Lucy's pregnancy became public.

I'm not even going to try and explain how I remember this 10 year old interview...I do remember thinking at the time of the interview that Lucy was being unusually coy and wondered how she had broken a rib (I think that's what it was) that the fandom hadn't heard about when Charles Wooley (the reporter and believe it or not I still remember the guy's name...someone cue the Twilight Zone theme) asked her to do a flip or something equally as silly. 

I have a very odd memory...this one must have stuck in the groove instead of going through the swiss cheese holes in my noggin.

Starship's super concert, The Starship Supernova Swing, was a huge success and the final tally for the amount raised on the night has been updated to $110,000. That is phenomenonal! It was such a spectacular night by all the performers who worked for nothing and made it such a special night. Lucy, as always, was on fire and the other performers - Jason Kerrison, Kirsten Morrell, James Reid, Dave Gibson, Peter Urlich, Nathan King, The Lady Killers, Nerida Lister, Monty Betham, The Tuxedo Swing Orchestra and Shane Cortese were SUPERB.

The Taranaki Daily News (NZ) today (03 October 2009) has a brief mention of Lucy in relation to the World March For Peace that will start in NZ. What's so interesting about this blurb (other than the fact this piece of info was hidden on page 3 of the paper) is the following:

The march has been endorsed by figures in politics, sport and entertainment, including the Dalai Lama, Yoko Ono and Lucy Lawless...
