HERE'S big news for fans of cult film, television and the environmental movement.
Lucy Lawless joins stars who will meet fans, pose for photos and sign autographs at the Supanova pop culture expo on the Gold Coast in April.
The actress played Xena in the New Zealand filmed 1990s global swords and sandals TV blockbuster Xena Warrior Princess, her Amazon woman character spinning off to a show of her own from the international hit Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. La Lawless has also had star tu turns in a n noughties reboot of Battlestar Galactica and played Lucretia in a all three series of the New Zealand filmed, filmed US gladiator T TV series Spartacus - Blood and Sand, prequel Gods of the Arena, and sequel Vengeance.
Most recently, she made the news when she and five other Greenpeace activists boarded an oil drilling ship in New Zealand and remained on it for 77 hours to stop it leaving for the Arctic, where it was to take part in oil exploration.
She was arrested and charged with burglary, which carries a 10-year jail term.
The courts sentenced each to a fine and 120 hours of community service with the judge denying more than half a million dollars in reparations to Shell Todd Oil.
Lawless will be joined on the Gold Coast by her Spartacus co-star Manu Bennett, who also plays Slade Wilson in the DC Comics series Arrow, airing on Australian television on Channel 9.
